Discharge of wastewaters into water bodies

In the year under review the volume of
wastewater discharge decreased by 1,204 million m3, which is 226 million m3
more than in 1997 and makes up 10,494 million m3. From the total quantity of
discharged wastewaters 4,228 million m3 were polluted, out of which 813 million
m3 were not purified. 1,644 million m3 of water were purified to
meet the requirements of the established standards. 4,622 million m3 of water
met the standards without purification.
In 1998 only 5,603 million m3 of water
were discharged by industry (incl. 1,900 million m3 purified, 534 million m3
without purification). The municipal services discharged 3,463 million m3
of water, (incl. 2,161 million m3 polluted water, 129 million m3
without purification). Agriculture discharged 1,372 million m3 of water (incl.
151 million m3 polluted water and 43 million m3 without
purification).

bodies by main branches of the economy of Ukraine for 1992-1998 is presented in Table 3.19.
