SoE The Kiev City was first prepared by Kiev City
Regional Office of Ministry of Environmental Protection
and Nuclear Safety of Ukraine as information to National
Environmental Report in 1992 Year. From this year
annually the such information was been prepared as
preliminary part for creation State National
Environmental Report.
in 1999 year the International Council for Local
Environmental Initiatives (ICLEI) and UNEP/GRID-Arendal
makes the formal partnership with respect to the
projects—Cities 21® and CEROI
(Cities Environment Reports on the Internet.
This Report was prepared as Pilot CEROI project for
SoE Kiev with the support and help of
UNEP/GRID-Arendal.
CEROI project is a research project
within the framework of Agenda 21/Local Agenda 21 to
facilitate access to environmental information for sound
decision-making and general awareness-raising in cities.
The objective is to develop a concept for a simple and
easily understood cities’ state of the environment
report on the Internet.
The main difficulties of creation this report are the
incompatibility of the native and international
environmental indicators and absence of necessary
data.
In 1994 the OECD published a core set of such
indicators:
“Environmental Indicators OECD
Core Set. (OECD, 1994)
The environmental indicators used in this report are
based on the The OECD indicators. Indicators meet the
UNEP demands for environmental indicators.
